Introduction Reading has always been an integral part of my daily life.I remember when I was in sixth grade, other kids called me Bookface and my teacher would get frustrated with me for sneaking books when we were supposed to be doing something different. Life hasn’t changed much since then. I love reading. I love teaching reading to kids. I love seeing their eyes light up when they understand what’s happening in a book and why. I started out teaching third grade.I worked hard to make sure that the students were reading books that they loved and knew how to talk about those books. After three years, I was ready to see where all of the magic happens.I moved to first grade and it was a tremendous gift to see the learning that students do in first grade. To have non-readers turn into fluent readers of chapter books is an amazing thing on one year! After leaving first grade, I decided I wanted to focus on reading, so I became an interventionist. My job is to work with and instill the love of reading in all grade levels. I choose books that are interesting and relevant in their lives and enjoy having discussions about book, not about strategies. I hope you enjoy my thoughts on the books I read!
