IntroductionI am married to a wonderful man and we have 4 grown sons. I am a mixed media designer . I learned to sew when I was 5 years old. Grammie taught me to hand stitch just about everything I need to mend. Her persistence with me and the fact she believed all "girls" will grow up and need this talent kept me in the creative mood. I move to a treadle "Singer" sewing machine when I was 7 and made my first outfit. My love of design and drawing came from my Grandpa and most of all my Mom. They both were great artist in their own right, Grandpa with portraits and landscapes, but Mom was a doll maker. Years ago I had a business called "Childs Play" were I designed large stuffed dolls and puppets. For over 17 years I designed and made wedding gowns. I worked for years with An International World of Weddings, in Portland, Oregon. My creations hit the runway at the Portland Bridal Shows. After years of bride's mothers and alterations I decided to make dolls instead. The dolls don't ask for changes , they don't talk back or tell you how to do your job! My imagination went wild making and creating OOAK patterns for dolls. So my life is surrounded by fabric and a lot of possibility.

Aren't papier mache cuts the worst?

Not really, because at least your creating something and the end result is worth the pain.
