About me

Location Berea, Ohio, United States
Introduction Watercolor painting is Joan's "back to basics" creative outlet. Embracing the challenges of this challenging medium makes her time painting so enjoyable - getting in “the zone” and escaping reality. Joan is a full-time Graphic Designer by day. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Communications from Ashland University and participated in a College Affiliate Program at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Joan enjoys working with a wide variety of subject matter and is inspired by the beauty of nature along with architecture, portraits, animals, and abstract themes. Her references are often photographic as well as from life or “plein air”. Capturing the light and mood of each piece with fresh, soothing colors, interesting value pattern and an impressionistic style are qualities she strives to achieve. Joan has been accepted into several juried Art Shows and Exhbits: BayArts Annual Exhibit, Valley Arts Center Annual Exhibition - "Stan and Hope Emerling Watercolor Award" Winner, Huson Artists Collaborative Annual Outdoor Show - "Art on the Green", Lakewood Arts Festival and Berea Arts Fest. Commissions are welcomed. Contact Joan via email:
