| Introduction | With 16 years of classroom teaching experience, John Stewart is currently the lead Writing Teacher and the Eighth Grade Team Leader at Gunston Middle School in Arlington, Virginia. Prior to joining the staff at Gunston, Mr. Stewart taught middle school in Chicago, Illinois, and Pharr, Texas, the latter as a corpsmember of the Teach For America Program. He earned a B.A. from Macalester College and an Ed.M. in Adolescent Risk and Prevention from Harvard University. He is certified to teach all subjects for grades Kindergarten to 6th and is endorsed for English and the Social Sciences for middle school. In 2001, Mr. Stewart earned National Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In 2011, he was named Gunston's Teacher of the Year. |
