About me

Introduction Hello, I'm Sarah. I'm a classic dyed-in-the-wool Yorkshire lass who followed the man of her dreams from the city she loved, through whirlwind adventures in Africa, Australia and Europe, and settled down in his home county of Somerset. We moved in February 2014 from our lovely wee terraced stone cottage a mile away, complete with its long, narrow but sunny and sheltered garden. This blog is my diary of our fresh struggles and adventures as we do it all over again - repairing, reorganising and reviving my husband's much loved childhood home. Fortunately for me, and therefore the sanity of the family as a whole, there is also a beautiful garden space just short of an acre...which is also wedged firmly in the tastes of an earlier era - the 70s! All shrubs and lawn, but with promise - a neglected smattering of orchard trees, a badly sited vegetable patch, and a reasonable number of magnificent trees which are too big really but nevertheless lend a valuable air of maturity and cocooning. Lots to do, lots of mistakes to be made, and lots of discoveries to be unearthed...a whole new barrowful of adventures.
