Introduction Norman Long (BA, MAFA) was born in 1976 in Preston. He received his BA in Fine Art from Newcastle University. Norman has developed a reputation as a distinguished oil painter, initially as a portraitist. His works have twice featured in the BP Portrait Award and Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibitions. In 2010 he was awarded the coveted de Laszlo Award for the evocative portrait of his father, Walter Long. Norman has enjoyed success in both Britain and the US. He has exhibited in New York, Philadelphia and California as well as a host of London venues. In 2008, he was awarded a double scholarship to undertake postgraduate study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. In 2011 he was voted into membership of the Manchester Academy of Fine Art. see www.normanlongartist.com
