Introduction I have had a connection with horses my entire life. When I was four, I rode for the first time, in a London, England park. At seven, I learned from the master, an obstinate Shetland pony known as “Ferris.” By the time I was nine years old, I was competing on the flat, over jumps, and schooling green horses. Shy with my peers, introverted and often filled with fear and anxiety, horses helped me to gain self-confidence, to feel solid, calm and at ease. I learned that a huge, powerful animal would listen to and respect me, if I used the correct signals, and communicated what I wanted clearly and consistently. Horses are honest creatures, they react to what is actually going on around them, not to what we want them to believe or what we wish others to perceive about us. They are barometers of truth. The great power and wisdom of the horse is how it will always tell you how YOU truly feel, and help you to become your most authentic self, in the process.
