| Favorite books | Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan - Brilliantly planned and executed. I loved the subtle ways in which the author connects each individual character to the whole story. The Tale of Edgar Sawtelle - I've never owned a dog, but I loved this book about a mute boy and the dog he owned. Resistance: The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising by Israel Gutman - Written by a historian and Holocaust survivor, this non-fiction work details the bravery and stoicism of the young Jews who, knowing they faced certain death, decided they'd rather die as fighters than as Nazi victims. Lab Girl by Hope Jahren: After reading this personal/professional memoir by award-winning botanist Hope Jahren I wished I was a scientist, too. |
