| Introduction | I'm Cath, a children's pastor in Brisbane. I'm married to Michael and we love serving God together. When I first started as the Children's pastor at Gateway Baptist Church in Brisbane I thought "this is going to be great, I'm going to spend all my time sitting on the carpet with kids telling them about Jesus. But, as I grew into my role I realised that being a leader is less about sitting on the carpet with people doing things and more about sitting on the couch in my office doing life with them. It's that type of leadership I'm interested in pursuing - empowering others, seeing potential in others and finding every opportunity to encourage, equip and empower those around me. I'm still new to the whole leadership scene and I'm still working out what it means to be a couch leader instead of a carpet one and that's what this blog is about. The journey from carpet to couch, the start up years of leadership, when you're still wet behind the ears, eager to learn and figuring out who God has made you to be. Because that is the ultimate question in life isn't it? - "Who has God made me to be?". |
