"My first vision was ( Niskam ) Force or energy, the Presence of a Spirital Strength , not power." Victor James Muise has spent the majority of his working career in the rugged outback country. He has been a forest fire technician, big game guide, professional prospector, exploration camp manager and cook. His two greatest loves are rocks and Mi’kmaq culture. Victor is a principal in several junior exploration companies and has nearly thirty years experience prospecting for gold, base metals and PGEs. He often worked for exploration companies on the Island and in Labrador as the lead prospector. Victor also led the charge in helping get the Mi’kmaq People of NL recognized by the provincial and federal government. He started the first drumming, singing and dancing groups in the province and is considered one of the aboriginal community foremost spiritual leaders He traveled around Canada for three decades advocating for native rights. He was the chief of the St. George’s Indian Band for a number of years. He also does traditional native painting and crafts. His aboriginal names are “Pikto'l Sa'Ke'j Muise” which is Mi’kmaq for Victor James Muise and “Ancient Spirit of the White Wolf” which is his spiritual name. |
