| Introduction | I'm the president of Columbia Basin College, a community college in southeastern Washington state. I started at CBC in 1990 as a member of the faculty. My Ph.D. is in leadership studies with an emphasis in organizational psychology. I conducted my field research at a apple orchard to study the effects of its servant-leadership management practices on employees. I've been the president for four years at this writing (2006-2007, acting president); 2008-present, president). CBC is a GREAT college with terrific faculty and staff. We're currently beset with terrible budget reductions from the state--six cuts in three years. We are trying to create a "new normal" that keeps the College strong, dynamic, and important for the community.
