Ellington (take the "A" train, the quickest way to Manhatten), Beatles, lyricists- poets through melody - Joni Mitchell (I bow down). Top 5 greatest lyrical poets alive. James Taylor- no melody needed...only read the words. Dylan - fantastic poet. Springsteen - hate his music, love his poetry. Why must he drown it out with 8000 decibles of static?
