| Introduction | This blog is intended to be a description of the filter that occurs as research about place and technological art passes through my brain and motivates actions and art. I am an MFA Candidate living in Phoenix, Arizona and as part of my thesis research in Intermedia Art, I am examining many different topics including place and space as it relates to the human understanding of themselves, relational art practices, locative media and technology, sociology, social studies and history, and basically methods and reasons for our feelings of connectedness to a place and community. This blog initially seems to be intended for artists and art appreciators who are interested in place based art, but on a larger scale the ideas and concepts that I am grappling with are universal to anyone’s understanding of place and their relationship to it. By posting this internal existential struggle online, I hope to spark interest in others to question their path in this world and how they make it. |
