| Introduction | I created The Industrial Ecologist with the aim to share with the world the findings of academic work that was created by students of the master of industrial ecology in Leiden, Netherlands. It started has a personal need to share my work with the aim of reaching out to everyone that would also be interested like me in the things that I researched throughout the master studies. In 2 years a lot of work is done and a lot of interesting things are written that never "leave the drawer". Starting a blog where I could share these findings would be a starting point. In my master I also realized that academics in our field have plenty of good ideas but somehow these ideas are not up-scaled. I have always been fascinated by the fact that if people in industrial ecology have so many great ideas, why aren't they told to everyone? Writing in a blog format is also freeing format for oneself away from the rules and guidelines of academic writing. This does not mean that the facts and work here published are not scientific to some extent, it's just that sometimes writing in our own words away form the pressure of grades can be much more enriching in the learning experience.
