Introduction I seem to have had a few career changes before this became the norm, but the common thread has been languages and hence communication and words. My dubious claim to fame as a writer has been as a writer/presenter for four years teaching Chinese to primary school students across Australia through the medium of live TV, although I did win an award, and people tell me they still see the tapes on ABC Digital 2.(Embarrassing as they're a good 10 years old now!) I have also written content for online resources and learning objects for students across Australia to learn Chinese, which were extremely interactive and have been highly acclaimed. Go to my website to view these. I loved collaborating with the wacky, mad, creative people involved in these projects and decided to try my hand at writing a novel by studying for an MA in Professional Writing through distance mode at University College, Falmouth. Certainly not an easy task and sometimes I wonder if I'm really a thwarted movie maker. I flip between living in the UK and Australia.

For your birthday, your aunt gave you a maple syrup dispenser shaped like a rooster. Please write her a thank-you note:

Dear Auntie May Thank you for your very innovative birthday present. It's quite a novel idea to have freshly laid maple syrup eggs, but they're a little tricky to boil, microwave, poach, fry or really do anything with. Do you have any recipes? Not really keen on eating raw eggs for brekkie! Luv Cyn
