| Introduction | Sailing was something I did in the summer as a teenager. As a student I was a foredeck hand on a Nicholson 38 for the RORC channel races in the mid sixties. Career and family pushed sailing into the background for about 40 years (despite a couple of "flotilla holidays", the family wasn't interested, so we took up hang gliding instead). Recently, before the zimmer frame strikes, I've re-introduced myself to the sea. I've also gone back to college "to keep Mr Alzheimer at bay". I'm currently studying for an MSc in Science, Technology and Society at UCL (where, 50 years ago, I studied Mechanical Engineering. |
