| Introduction | Dick Gillman is a Yorkshireman born in 1949. He qualified as a Food Technologist and worked in Sheffield in the 1970's. Graduating with the Open University, he entered teaching in 1980 and taught Physics and then Balanced Science for 25 years to 11-16 year olds in the Nottingham area. He retired from teaching in 2005 and moved to Brittany, France in 2008 with his wife Alex, Truffle the Black Labrador and Poppy, the cat. He still has strong links with the UK where he visits his two grown up children and their grandchildren. During his retirement he has (as of August, 2015) written fourteen Sherlock Holmes short stories and also his first SF novel 'Saline'. Thirteen of the individual books and his 5 story anthology, 'The Fireside Collection' are available at both Amazon and Smashwords.
