| Introduction | I am originally from Southport, a lovely seaside town in the north of England. Now I reside in Vancouver, a beautiful city in western Canada, where the mountains reach the sea. My father was a Renaissance Man: chef, dress designer, artist. From the time I was a small child I was his sidekick and taste-tester. I would be given anything from chocolate mousse to baby octopus - I never knew in advance what it was I was going to test! This spurred my interest in cooking, and by age 12 I was cooking most weeknight family dinners. My mother, who makes the lightest pastry in the world, taught me her family's pastry tips. She often would offer to tidy my room if I cooked for her! Later on I assisted my dad when he catered special events. At home he would have open house on Monday nights, when friends and/or family would come over to partake in a delectable dinner, always prepared with that extra ingredient: TLC. We would eat, laugh, share recipes and have a lovely time. My daughters and I like to keep that tradition alive, and my grandson loves to help out - yet another generation is in the kitchen! |
