Why does the taste of pennies remind you of losing a tooth?
Because both blood and copper activate many of the same taste buds on your tongue. Your brain calls up times when you've experienced a similar sensation to determine how to act, and quickly recalls the (probably) traumatic experience of having a tooth removed, which resulted in the same taste.
