| Introduction | I consider myself to be extremely lucky, thanks to my amazing friends and family. Running (with my friends) is a big part of my life as I enjoy it so much. Last year I completed my first Marathon and I am planning another later this year. Life has presented me with many challenges, thankfully, none of them life threatening! I hope that each experience will continue to make me a better person. Diagnosed with Narcolepsy 8 years ago, I have finally decided to raise awareness about this misunderstood condition, starting with my blog. Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological condition mainly affecting sleep, waking and appetite. Recently confirmed as an autoimmune condition there is currently no cure. Medication is effective at treating symptoms, keeping me legal to drive etc. My consultant said I am the fittest one she sees, and that I manage it exceptionally well. I'm pleased with that! Stay awake for 48-72 hours - that will give you some understanding of how it feels daily. There are other symptoms, but constant fatigue is the main one. |
| Interests | Running, strength training, yoga and spending time with my incredible friends and family. |
| Favorite movies | Anything that involves the old school method actors: Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson et al. Martin Scorcese is a genius and Quentin Tarantino is not far behind him. |
| Favorite music | I love any music that moves me or inspires me to move. Dance music with a pumping beat to classical or folk - depends on what i am doing and how i am feeling |
| Favorite books | Too many to mention, I don't have time for the written word, so my healthy addiction is ‘Audible’ . I go for autobiographies or sports related factual stuff. Reality reading I guess!! |
