| Introduction | Throughout my career as an educator, it has been my goal to create a learning environment which incorporates personally meaningful and intellectually challenging experiences through a learner-centered and experience rich approach. For nearly fifteen years I worked in pursuit of this goal. In a variety of settings throughout Colorado, my native state, I have had the opportunity learn and grow as an educator by experimenting with the interplay between theoretical understanding and active experience. My current position as Principal of the Jefferson County Open School (JCOS) is the culmination of these experiences and represents an incredible opportunity to lead in an authentic community of learners. I am proud to be part of such an exceptional model of democratic and progressive education. |
