| Introduction | Hi, I discovered I had an allergy to Thiuram in July 2009 after having patch testing done by an Allergist. I had contact dermatitis on my feet off and on for almost 2 years before that. At first I thought it was related to one of my seasonal allergies, which would have had to have gotten worse, but then I realized it had to do with my shoes because it kept coming back after the summer was over and my feet were still unbearably itchy. After getting patch testing, I learned I was allergic to Thiuram, an accelerator used in the processing of rubber. I've spent a lot of time emailing shoe companies to ask them to investigate their products to notify me if they use Thiuram in their shoes. I'm hoping this blog will save people with similar allergies some time and effort. There is hope! with a little diligence you can have itch-free feet! |
