| Introduction | I'm a student majoring in Spanish and Creative Writing at Beloit College (in Wisconsin!). Of course, what I'm really interested in is my minor: Food, Culture, and Society. Food has always been at the center of my family's, and consequently, my existence. Since I was young, the main topic of conversation when discussing vacation plans always seemed to be not what we were going to do but where we were going to eat. As a result, I was probably the only sixth grader at my small, parochial, elementary school who preferred sushi to Happy Meals. Now after a year at college, I'm finally starting to get a vague idea of what it is I want to do when I "grow up." I say vague, because at this point I'm only sure that my career will have something to do with FOOD. |
