| Introduction | I'm a Miami native with an Indigo soul and a gypsy heart. I love all types of travel.
On 01/27/10, my life changed due to a recklessly driven motorcycle by my ex-fiance as we traversed through the mountains in Colombia. I felt it was me against the machine. In this case, a head-on collision with a 12-wheeler Mercedes Benz truck. He swerved himself away from danger, and put me right in front of it. To think, he proposed just four days before!
My spinal cord suffered two severe fractures. I remained hospitalized in Medellin for two months, and then transferred to Denver, Colorado, for another six months.
It took awhile, and although it is still difficult, I now embrace my disability. I am strong and ready to make a difference in the lives of others, just as mine changed so rapidly. Previously, I earned graduate degrees in mass communication and psychology. I worked with the media and with psychotherapy patients. Recently I won the title of Ms. Wheelchair USA Colorado. I will walk again, cease taking medication, manage pain with alternative methods, and will deliver hope to others.... Inspiration through divine life. |
