About me

IntroductionOur aim is to provide the spark that inspires everyone who takes part in a Tinderbox outdoor experience. We provide the opportunity to learn through play in the natural environment. Regular visits, in small groups to the Forest School allow the focus to be on each child’s needs. The outside setting encourages physical development through the games we play and the tools we use. We enable children to learn to manage appropriate risk, to use their own initiative, problem solve and work in a team in a safe environment. Curiosity sets the agenda in the child led sessions with support from the Forest School team. We offer children the opportunity to be outside, taking active roles in achievable tasks that motivate, build independence, confidence and self-esteem. We provide the opportunity to develop a range of practical skills such as shelter construction, green wood working and making fires for warmth and cooking as we experience the elements and the natural world. These practical skills encourage the development of problem solving, communication and social skills allowing children to reach their potential.
