| Introduction | I'm a philosopher by training and a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Developmental and Comparative Psychology at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig. My work on the cognition of communicative intentions and social learning has led me to think about the communicative abilities of non-human great apes, and the relationship of ape gestures to human language. I've recently started to watch the A group of chimpanzees at the WKPRC in Leipzig. In this blog, I record some of the more interesting things that I've seen, as a way of making sense of what I'm learning, and of filing away anecdotes for future reference. |
