| Introduction | When I was a child I loved blue above all colours. The Xhosa woman who helped raise me consequently nicknamed me Hlazi, from 'hlaza' which means blue or green. Xhosa, like many languages, has a single word for both these colours. My father Afrikanerised it, and called me 'Slazie' all his life. This blog is in many ways a collection of chromatic notes inspired by art, life, and philosophy. |
