| Introduction | I've been a fitness and beer nut since learning how to walk. I spent my most formative years reading Mad Magazine and playing tiddlywinks, which I could never learn to master. After high school, I spent four years in the Navy on three different ships, one of which is now a museum in San Diego. During my tour of duty I developed an interest in gambling which I later studied extensively through books, publications, and experience at race tracks and casinos. A mechanical designer by trade for thirty-six years, I didn't take up writing until the age of thirty-one. After limited success with short stories published in some regional magazines I wrote four novels, none of which was published, although one was a "near miss". After seven years of frustration, I tossed the four manuscripts out and gave up writing to concentrate all of my talent on my career for a couple of decades. I now write mysteries full-time and live in Las Vegas with my girlfriend and our two dogs. |
