About me

Introduction Miami, Florida, surrounded by sun, palms, hibiscus, jasmine flowers, ferns, lizards, squirrels, and summer afternoon thunder showers.
Interests This blog was inspired by the Japanese legend of 1000 cranes. Japanese legend says that anyone who folds one thousand paper cranes will have their heart's desire come true. I want to make 1000 dresses, a wish for the survival of nature. Leaves and flowers make historical artifacts in each dress, leaf print by leaf print, bit by bit, like a mosaic, until the whole comes together. Inspirations: French couture (Marie Antoinette and 18th century), Art Nouveau patterns, African fabric prints, Emilio Pucci, Alexander McQueen. I grew up in Miami, Florida, surrounded by palms, mango trees, ferns, lizards, toads, turtles, possums, squirrels, and summer afternoon thunder showers. After college, I studied art and design in Rome, Italy. Italian design-philosophy: form and function always collide and collaborate; the spirit of an object with its purpose in the world. Back in Miami, the tropics and its plants inspire me to create these dresses. I invite new project ideas--just email. I hope to inspire everyone to see the beauty of fashion and the biodiversity of nature, as I support nature's right to survival.
