| Introduction | I recently relocated closer to my original roots in sunny Manitoba. I had been thinking about moving from the North for some time now and after a rather serious and prolonged surgery and recovery last fall, I knew it was a good time to get on with my life. I recently turned 60 years old and a combination of my feelings post surgery along with a stark realization of my mortality, I thought it might be good for me to start this blog. In addition to just putting down some thoughts and ideas that roam through my mind, it might make an interesting read for those who love me and are close to me to have after I am gone. LOL... don't get me wrong. I have every intention of living many more years and out living some of you bastards that are part of my life at this time. I have been following the blog that my Julie's daughter-in-law has been doing for her baby and I thought that this is such a wonderful way to just follow a person's life and to provide information for those who care. So.. without further adieu, and with no set schedule or real goals in mind, here is the first step in the rest of Jim's journey or "Life after Sixty". |
| Interests | I am expanding interests into likes: cooking - I love to make up my own concoctions especially my crock pot, photography - learning cameras scares me but I love scenery type photos, Julie - she's Yummy, travel - whether flying to a resort or driving backroads, golf - a fun way to meet people, cycling - I want to do more of this, people - in general/fun to watch, politics -so interesting and such a game, reading, my business - EZ Street is fun, family - I want to re establish family connections, the internet - surfing for everything, birds - especially ravens, music - older stuff jazzy bluesy, the lake - not for boating but just being around it, animals - of all kinds wild or domestic, beer - dark ales or a cold lager, coffee - americano strong, walking - a good time to think, sex - have to admit that I still love it at my age, salmon - yummm baked/broiled/bbq/sandwich, shopping - whether I buy anything or not, shoes- best if they are funky and on sale, ebay- haven't been there much lately but can be addictive if you like looking for bargains, sports - especially if I'm part of a fantasy league, visiting with friends - includes good conversation - good food - cold beer, newspapers - I'd rather read a paper than news online, my kids - my grand daughter - I love them, Montana's chicken wings - so good for you, time alone - I like being by myself, gosh there's lots more but that's good for now. |
| Favorite movies | I honestly can't say that I have a favorite movie. I don't do movies often and find that often they are crappy and a waste of time. Off hand I would say The Reader, A fish called Wanda, My life as a house, Love Actually, Sling Blade, Dirty Harry |
| Favorite music | There wasn't enough space here so music is listed as a regular post. |
| Favorite books | I actually have been reading quite a bit lately having sworn off TV for the past few months. I really enjoyed Out Stealing Horses by Per Peterson, The Pale Indian by Robert Alexie, and Last Rituals by Yrsa Sigurdasdottir. I have been getting into a bit of the old heritage by reading novels by Icelandic authors. Currently have a couple of "who dunnit's" by Arnaldur Indridason finsonfinsonfinson etc... |
