| Introduction | I've been a Support Worker for NCHA since 2002, at Retford Young Persons Housing Scheme. I've been a member of the BfBL Steering Group for the past 2 years, & it's been an exciting project, from raising money, to raising awareness, the project has involved many different people across Nottinghamshire & it has been a real team effort! Although I’m a member of the Steering Group, my place on the trip was not guaranteed & like everybody going I've had to apply. I was delighted when my application for Team Leader was successful, & was even more excited to be actually going on the trip which took all these many months planning. One of my roles will be First Aider, and I've attended, Outdoor First Aid Course ran by FieldSkills which has allowed me to take on this role. My fundamental role though is as a Support Worker, & I’m most looking forward to being a part of giving 9 young people this once in a lifetime opportunity to experience not only a different country but also a different culture, society & way of life. I am sure they will fully appreciate & take-in the experience which will hopefully give them enthusiasm & optimism they can take with them into the future. |
