Introduction I am a graphic designer and artist working in Wisconsin. I have experience in design, illustration techniques, marketing & communications. My design aesthetic includes bold color, rich texture, a nod to the visual past when it suits the job, & an emphasis on communicating in a way that makes sense to the reader. I’m always looking for ways to communicate the specific message in the piece I’m creating, which means I can produce a wide variety of work, from a clean, corporate vibe to a fun and funky look for a show or program. I am accustomed to listening carefully, asking questions, and learning what I need to know to do a great job. I also understand the crucial role great communications play in the success of any business. With my background in writing, marketing and communications, I won’t just dump your text in the design without reading it. You can expect a fully integrated designer who can give positive, constructive feedback when needed and take it as well. I’ll do my best to assure that your work says exactly what you want it to say.
Interests Currently doing a 365 photo project, reading, art, buying doofy little stuff to glue to other things, did I mention reading?, watching videos about how to do things, traveling to other places that are a)beautiful or interesting or at least have a place to buy a snack and a Diet Coke and b)where I can do the other things listed above.
Favorite Movies Can there really be a favorite movie?, Current favorite - as of today - Stardust with Michelle Pfeiffer (this is most definitely spelled wrong) who makes a delicious witch, Get Over It - a teen romance that has one of the funniest lip synch opening sequences I've ever seen, Absolutely Fabulous - which doesn't technically count as a movie since it's a British television series - but which is a delightfully raunchy thing, Harry Potter movies, Lord of the Ring movies
Favorite Music Norah Jones, Diana Krall, torch songs, soundtracks from movies like The Commitments and Phenomenon, Van Morrison, John Hiatt, Willy Porter, Robbie Robertson, the Neville Brothers, screamin' good blues guitar by anyone, Boz Scaggs' "Dig", Free Hot Lunch, about 46 minutes of bluegrass at a time, about 75% of the groups that play on Austin City Limits
Favorite Books Terry Pratchett books, Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials series, "cosy" mystery writers like Margaret Maron, Susan Conant, Earlene Fowler, not so "cosy" mystery writers like Dick Francis, Carl Hiaasen, Earl Emerson, Tony Hillerman, oh and can't possibly forget Christopher Moore who write some of the funniest stuff I think I've ever read
