| Introduction | My name is Christine Spurling and I am the Library Media Specialist at Gentry Middle School. If you are not in education, you probably have no idea what a Library Media Specialist (LMS) does. I work with students, teachers, administrators, and computer technicians to be sure that all of the technology in our building is functioning and being utilized. I work with students in teaching them many different programs like "Home Access" which allows them to see their grades and attendance, "Blackboard", which is our online learning system, "Destiny", our online catalog to materials in our library as well as ebooks and audio books that can be downloaded to devices. I work with teachers and administrators in helping them with Technology, Websites, iPads, online testing, etc. In addition to the technology end of my job, I manage our library program, ordering and cataloging all of the books for the library that our students and teachers check out. I enjoy spending my spare time with my husband Tom who owns Ernie's Cafe' and my 2 daughters who love to travel and dance. |
