Introduction"All big things in this world are done by people who are naive and have an idea that is obviously impossible” often explains my personal attitude and mentality. Born and raised in McLean, Virginia I was what you would consider a “girly girl” who grew up taking ballet and piano lessons during most of my childhood. I never considered myself a blogger but I see this one having purpose. Last year I was asked to be a candidate in the 2009 LLS Man & Woman of the Year Campaign. Knowing firsthand the heartache of losing a parent to cancer, I happily accepted. On October 22 1995, my father passed away after a twelve-year battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I was just one year shy of my freshmen year in high school. I enter this campaign with optimism that one day the cure to these life-changing diseases will be found and I hope I convey that attitude in this blog. I am privileged to have met and married my soul mate. My mother was also lucky enough to have met and married her soul mate but cancer took him away from her. It is for that reason I dedicate my campaign to both the memory of my father and the everlasting strength of my mother. Mom - this is all in your honor. I love you.
