Introduction	I inherited my love of all things nautical from Uncle Edward in Glasgow, Scotland. Many hours were spent learning about the care of wooden boats, diesel engine maintenance, boat handling, coastal navigation and sailing. The Rosalie was a lifeboat from the Queen Mary; purchased by Uncle Edward during World War II when she was being refitted. From the Rosalie, we watched the slow progression of the QE2 being built. Trips along the Firth of Clyde provided wonderful opportunities to apply the newly acquired maritime knowledge and skills. Sailing on the Irish Sea, I learned to respect the power of wind and wave.
