| Introduction | The Portland Review is a literary magazine published by Portland State University, and seeks to provide a home for any and all work that defies genre and attacks convention, and is at least one of the following: hideous, ephemeral, illogical, tragically flawed, revelatory, painful, or true. We believe that the best authors write like Nicolas Cage acts: with reckless abandon and unstinting commitment, and also quite possibly while drunk. If you want to boost the morale of the two fractious and overworked people who run the magazine, please send plastic dinosaurs, mix tapes and Tums. If you want to write a story to get back at an ex-girlfriend, please do it on your own time. These are the only instructions we can give you, but hopefully they are enough. |
