Introduction	I'm a native Austinite and a liberal. Before my current job in the reading room of an archives at UT, I was employed at the Texas State Capitol in various positions, including messenger, reporter, and aide to a House member. In the intervening years, I've been fairly ill-informed about the goings-on in our state government. This is partly out of laziness, and partly out of disgust with the political climate in Texas. I hope to gain a better understanding of how it all works, and also to find some reasons to be hopeful again.
