Introduction | I grew up in a small town where fashion was boring. So I DARED to be different and LOVED it. I graduated grade 12 & pretty much jumped on a bus to London to study fashion design. After 3 years of living off coffee, I graduated, ready to face the world. Sort of. Living in London, there were no real opportunities to peruse my career. I would have had to move to Toronto. But I got comfortable here. I had ties here. So I stayed spending the next 2 years working retail. I started at the bottom, but within a year I was the assistant manager. It felt like such an accomplishment. Retail is hard. I have much admiration for people who stick with it. My hopes were high, I was on my way up. Another year went by and I was still there. I got bored. I got tired. I ended up working long shifts, sometimes 7 days a week. I was missing out on my life.So I quit.I used all of my savings to start an on-line business so I could do what I wanted to do since the beginning. The past few months have been tough, sticking to a budget (yuk) and putting lots of time and energy into creating unique & wonderful things. But, I have never been happier. |
