| Introduction | I am the CEO of renewable energy power generation business Green Amps Limited and mid-size wind turbine manufacturing business FutureWind Limited. The objective is to deploy the turbines on farmers land (giving them a new income stream) and generate renewable energy for injection into the grid. By making the turbines in the UK we are also supporting UK engineering, in particular SMEs. One of the key aspects of this work is breaking down barriers in the UK planning system to make this task run more smoothly. The DTI described the Company as “being the furthest ahead in the UK” in this respect. Prior to working in renewables I was VP Marketing of Metrodata, broadband telecomms equipment vendor that I founded in 1989. My background was originally in electronics and networking. I have a gorgeous teenager daughter, a partner, a "not-step-daughter" and a cat. |
