| Introduction | For two years, I lived year-round in a tent and travelled around Great Britain (Yes, I admit it - I'm a bit of a hippy). During that time I claimed no benefits and earned very little money (I did get paid for some occasional employment on farms and for some maintenance work on vehicles belonging to travellers) and existed almost entirely on wild foods, those that can be found in Nature. I was a carnivore then but my diet was formed mostly of plant foods - nowadays I'm vegan, but I'm not the type who evangelises about the benefits of it and so for that reason I will include recipes including wild fish and other animals here. During my travels, I discovered that it is still possible in today's age to eat well without ever having to buy foods. It's difficult in Winter, which requires the consumption of foods stored during Summer in Northern climes, but entirely possible. Many wild foods have flavours considerably better or even absent from commercial foods - I hope this blog will encourage people to try some. |
