| Introduction | i love children. i have 3. i am a single mom. i am also lawyer, by day. i love words so much that i used to frequent the dictionary that stood on its own pedestal in the law library, just to read new words. my friend laughed at me, often. what i mean to say is, i'm a nerd. incidentally, i also love books. surely they give off pheromones, as reading a good book is almost as good as having a lover. (NO! it's not.) i love decorating cookies and cakes. one morning, i stopped by the bakery to buy a birthday cake for a friend at the office. To the ladies behind the counter "Can you please decorate this cake with a tree frog?" "A tree frog? We can't make a tree frog, no. I don't know how to draw a tree frog." "Oh! Well I can! Do you mind if I use your icing to draw one on?" They obliged. Behind the counter of the local grocery store bakery, in my lawyer suit, I piped a tree frog onto the cake. Grinning. The rest of the day while I typed away drafting motions, calling clients, reviewing documents, I chanted "MAKE CAKES NOT CASELAW!" |
