Introduction I'm interested in great art: whether it be on canvas or my iPod, in my book, or on my plate. Preferably I'd like it in all places. I look for honesty, stylistic consistency, and original flavor profiles.
Interests cities, fine dining, hole-in-the-wall dining with memorized menus recited by a waiter who's been there for years, reading, writing, traveling, people-watching at wacky cafes, attending great dinner parties, attending great theater, studying languages, meeting people of all stripes, nature, art/indie movies, foreign films, silly movies, all kinds of music.
Favorite Movies Annie Hall, Moonstruck, Donnie Darko, The Godfather Parts 1 and 2, Office Space, Best in Show, This is Spinal Tap, All About Eve, About a Boy, Singin' in the Rain, From Here to Eternity...these are just a few.
Favorite Music The Police, Thievery Corporation, Beck, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Ibrahim Ferrer, Camille, David Bowie, Erykah Badu, Goldfrapp, Heart, Stevie Wonder, Jack Johnson, The Ramones, The Zep, Los Lobos, Madonna, Me'Shell NdegéOcello, Nirvana, Tori Amos, show tunes, Paul Simon, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Prince, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rickie Lee Jones, Sarah McLachlan, Shelby Lynne, Folk Implosion, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sting, Talking Heads, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Mighty Bop, The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, The Wood Brothers, U2, Zero 7...the tip of the iceberg. I also like jazz, particularly Miles Davis, Ellington and Coltrane, old soul music, blues, and specific kinds of international folk music tinged with electronic beats and influences.
Favorite Books A Confederacy of Dunces, Kitchen Confidential, Lord of the Rings, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Tender at the Bone, Comfort Me With Apples, The Soul of a Chef, Cold Comfort Farm, The Master and Margarita, Les Misérables, Unaccustomed Earth, "The Dead" from Dubliners, Wuthering Heights, Truman Capote's oeuvre, His Dark Materials, Kon-Tiki...among many others that aren't coming to mind right now.
