| Introduction | I was born in San Fernando, in the South of Trinidad and Tobago. I lived in Fyzabad and claimed the Oilfields and the Forest Reserve as my personal world, until the age of eleven. I roamed the lush forests hunting iguanas, lizards and snakes: caught guabin and million (tetras) in the rivers and streams, collected butterflies, raided fruit trees and tended to my own little garden allocated to me by my father, which usually consisted of corn and ochro plants. When not hunting and playing make-believe, I would ride my Raleigh bicycle through the length and breadth of the Reserve and stop only to marvel at the oil derricks as they dipped, rolled and rose up again like giant mechanical praying mantis. Those early days in Fyzabad and Fyzabad Intermediate EC School, stimulated my vivid imagination and nurtured my creativity.Today I live in the North of Trinidad. |
