IntroductionI became interested in wine while travelling and worked vintages in Alsace France in the 1970's and in the Rheingau region of Germany. After I returned to to New Zealand I planted a vineyard at Kumeu with Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. I went on to produce a Reserve Merlot 1998 Bigney Coigne which won a gold medal at the Easter show. My best known and most widely distributed brand was Harrierrise Uppercase Merlot the earliest vintage of which was 1990. From the mid 1980's I wrote wine columns for Metro Magazine and The New Zealand Herald as well as my own monthly news letter called 'Friends Of Wine'
InterestsWine writing, wine tasting, writing, sailing, reading, wood work as in building boats and restoring old furniture. I also love aeroplanes along with urban and coastal walks.
