| Introduction | MOTIVATION AND HISTORY: Initiation of this newsletter was motivated by community leaders becoming fed up after years of endless nonproductive research and meetings run by community stakeholders, university researchers, organization administrators, and representatives of the local County Sheriff's Office. Their focus was and continues to be on how they, who live outside of the community, can profit from the misery of the people inside the community without effectively creating positive change. As a rule, the community has little or no input into the studies conducted about them, and has yet to benefit from the years of study. The organizers decided that it is time to take action to help the community, rather than to just complain. The ON-TIME COMMUNITY BULLETIN blossomed out of that high level of frustration and equally high desire to present news and information that are useful to community residents. |
