| Introduction | My name is Doug Roach. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from high school, I entered the Congregation of Holy Cross whose headquarters is at Notre Dame, Indiana. The Congregation is mainly a teaching one. I started teaching high school in 1956 in Akron, Ohio; from 1957-1973 I taught at Cathedral High School, Indianapolis, Indiana, where I started out as a full time teacher and ended up being the principal for six years. After that I was on the administration for the Brothers of Holy Cross for six years. Moving from the classroom I was a clinical social worker at a state prison in Tennessee for eight years. After that very interesting experience I returned to the high school scene in 1997 when I became president of Holy Cross High School in River Grove, Illinois. When I turned seventy, I moved to Venice, Florida where I am doing a multitide of volunteering opportunties. |
