Introduction	I am a freelance writer and educator. I have worked on and off in the wedding industry for 7 years, mostly for www.brideway.net. I love helping with weddings and find the whole process fascinating! I have been environmentally aware since I was a child. My family always had a compost pile or something going. And I grew up in a very old farmhouse that sucked fuel oil so I learned early to be concerned about energy costs. I was involved in organic farming and green eating while I was working at small college. Why a blog? While at a wedding recently it struck me how much of an ecological impact this one was having on the earth. There were guests from all over the country and a few from outside the US. There were cut flowers that were out of season. There was a large buffet that I knew would have leftovers. The caterer was using aluminum foil serving dishes and plastic utensils. Most of the women, both guests and wedding party members, were wearing a dress made of synthetic material and manufactured overseas. I thought I would try to help people ease their conscience while planning their wedding.
