Introduction	I live in an outer London suburb with my partner, who is an engineer, lover of outdoor challenges and great optimist, and our 10 year old daughter who loves animals and has lost interest in the new ipod she made me buy her. I have a wonderful 90 year old red headed mum who lives nearby, and I am also blessed with many other relations including all the dead ones that I have been getting to know since I took up family history research. I'm a trustee and volunteer for two charities, one that supports local environmental activities and one that is bringing solar power to East Africa. I also volunteer at my daughter's school and talk to a lot of local councillors and MPs on behalf of Friends of the Earth. I used to be a lawyer but I can't cope with the hours and the people any more so now I just dabble in it freelance and give my friends free advice.
