Introduction	My name is Helena. 10 years ago I was raped at knifepoint. Since the rape I have been told that I am a 'slut'. In my research for this blog I have discovered that this sort of abuse has occurred to other rape victims as well. The acceptance that this defintion of women is a legitimate way of categorizing us allows, I believe, sexual assault and sexual abuse to be more acceptable. In this blog I hope to defend myself and also to provide information about sexual assault, motivations for it and how Australians perceive it. During the past 10 years my family and I have also been harrassed because of the rape. My home has been repeatedly broken into and my personal property stolen. In Australia actions such as these are offences covered by The Crimes Act (section 35) and The Human Rights Act. This blog therefore is also my defence of my right and my family's to the same civil and human rights that other Australian's expect.
