About me

Introduction Our first baby Tristan James Crawford was born February 8, 2008 with Severe Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). Tristan had Double Single Inlet Ventricle with Mal-position of the Great Arteries, meaning he had 3 chambers in his heart instead of 4, and his 2 major arteries were in opposite positions. Tristan required an NG feeding tube as his heart condition caused him to tire very easily. At 7 days old Tristan’s bowels were twisting and he required emergency surgery. He recovered well! After 24 days in the CHEO NICU Tristan was able to go home for the first time. We were thrilled! We took a special CPR/First Aid course offered by CHEO and were taught how to insert his NG tube. Though Tristan would have to return to the hospital for open-heart surgeries, we were excited to be bringing him home! Tristan was home for 2 days. March 5, 2008 Tristan was rushed to the ER and passed away at 26 days old due to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Tristan spent the majority of his short life in CHEO and we are grateful every day for the time we had with him. Donating and raising funds for CHEO is our way of giving back to a wonderful community and cause that helped us and our beautiful son!
